Possible Inexpensive Herbal Remedies and Supplements to Counter Radioactive Fallout?

I am hearing how iodine and potassium iodine is wiped out off the shelves in the store. There are profiteers looking to make a buck. We have to be careful of who will price gouge out of fear of gloom and doom. I been looking for days online through various search engines to see if Green Tea is another natural remedy. I have not found any concrete proof that green tea is an alternative remedy to counter radioactive fallout. I drink green tea with lemon and homey daily. I do love the drink green tea and find it relaxing to drink at the end of the day after dinner. I just wonder will it help me if radiation reaches Texas.
If any of the readers of this blog do come up with possible remedies when iodine has cleared the shelves. I am not Medical Doctor and found a website that has come up with possible solutions with natural iodine already found in certain herbs and foods .There are alternatives our there if we do out homework and please beware of people looking to exploit this scare to make a fast buck. They will say these magic pills will block radiation and all they are is sugar pills.
Right now some people are in a panic and iodine is becoming hard to find on the store shelves and would not hurt to research foods that already have iodine already in them. Does seafood have iodine?Do certain herbs and spices also counter the effects of radiation.Chances are the effects of radiation will be not as bad as Japan is experiencing. I believe the worst of it will not reach the mainland. It does not mean we should look at the alternative remedies just as effective. They do exist.Even though the US government has been trying to stop iodine from being sold to the people. When that happens if we have a Nuclear Accident in the states. I can see the government passing out placebos with no medicinal value just to give the perception they care about us.That is when we look for alternatives that do just as well when we know the government is lying to us.The responsibility is ours and not the government's.

  3. There are many alternatives to KI or Potassium Iodine. The KI can be dangerous and, personally, I can't take it due to thyroid problems. It can cause problems as well as clear them up and a person should NOT take KI unless they know they have been exposed to radiation and/or under a doctor's supervision.

Please see the following website for some ideas:

  4. Kelp seaweed contains iodine.

  5. Kelp tablets available at any health food store, and sea salt, but use it sparingly, the salt is bad for you compared to the benefits of the iodine content.

And don't panic, it is very unlikely any serious levels of fallout will reach the mainland, some Hawaiians may be at risk for minimal exposure.

  6. Quote from email

"How to protect yourself and your thyroid against radiation: kelp, ginseng, ashwaganda (recently found to regrow nerves), chlorella, zeolites, fulvic acid, nascent iodine, reishi mushroom, sea salt (also salty miso), botanical (plant-derived) or lipo- vitamin C, magnesium (chlorophyll), selenium (brazil nuts), coconut butter, Megahydrate, Crystal Energy."

I don't know if this may work.

  7. I have spent the better part of the day researching the "whats"...all algae, kelp, etc. This means kelp soup daily. Cilantro, you take a bunch put it into a blender then add garlic. This makes a paste, put 1 teaspoon into your food. Green/white tea throughout the day is also good. I bought Chlorella pyrenoidosa Cracked Cell Powder Herb Algae 1 lb at $32.00. This requires 1 teaspoon per day.
KI Iodide is for uranium; this is MOX. Good luck to my fellow humans.

  8. The iodine supplements will only help prevent the thyroid from absorbing radioactive iodine. There's also other radioactive elements to worry about like uranium and plutonium (probably the worst to ingest) and cesium which enters the food chain and has a half life of 30 years.

  9. Potassium Iodide is not for uranium....or any other radioactive isotope. It's used to saturate the thyroid with stable iodine and prevent the thyroid from storing any unstable iodides. Thats all it does.
